Overnight Lacrosse Camps - Train With The Pros

Overnight Lacrosse Camp…done the “Signature Way”. On the lacrosse field, athletes ages 8-17 are trained by experts, grouped based on gender, age, and skill, and progressed through a thoughtful player development model. Lacrosse players can expect intensive training split into two sessions a day. And no two sessions are the same – Instruction covers positional skills and IQ, fundamental repetitions, scrimmaging under the lights, an end-of-camp tournament, and so much more.

Our Lacrosse Legacy: Signature’s Founding Sport

Lacrosse is our legacy sport: we started Signature Sports Camps with lacrosse piloting the way. Campers come back year after year to push past their comfort zone on the field, reconnect with their favorite coaches, and play with lacrosse athletes from all around the nation.

Meet the 2024 Professional Lacrosse Coaches

Pro lacrosse player Dhane Smith wearing Canada jersey, holding a trophy and a gold medal in his mouth after winning lacrosse championship

Dhane Smith

Summer of ‘24 was Dhane’s third summer at Signature Sports Camps! Athletes love to learn from Dhane for his hands-on coaching, leadership, and engagement on the field. Dhane Smith is a Professional Lacrosse Player in PLL (Chaos LC 1x Champion), NLL (Buffalo Bandits 2x Champion), and on Team Canada (3x Gold Medalist). Not to mention, Dhane is the #1 ranked forward in the NLL and is a 2x league MVP.

Emily Hawryshuck

Not to “one up” Dhane, but Summer ‘24 is Emily’s 4th time headlining at Signature Sports Camps! Emily is captain of the Team USA Women’s Box Lacrosse team and an Unleashed Professional Lacrosse Player. Our lacrosse girls love Emily for her attention to detail when instructing draw concepts, her powerful shooting techniques, and her ability to connect with each player on the field.

Buffalo Bandits professional lacrosse player Ian MacKay holding a trophy above his head in celebration of winning lacrosse championship

Ian MacKay

Summer ‘24 was our first year welcoming headlining coach Ian McKay! And he will no doubt be back in the future: athletes loved hearing about his lacrosse story in our Q&A and learning from his background as a Defensive Middie. Ian is hands-on, engaging, and encouraging when coaching up our boys. Ian is a Professional Lacrosse player in the PLL (Team Chaos, locking in the 2021 championship alongside his teammate Dhane Smith), NLL (Buffalo Bandits, and you guessed it: winning championships right along Dhane), and was a 2x Captain and All-American at Vermont

Skills and Drills: Develop Your Lacrosse IQ

So what can you expect to learn here at Signature Sports Camps? Campers are evaluated on the first day of camp and placed in the group that is the best fit for their experience (yes, we can keep together teams and buddies). Here’s an overview of a few of the concepts you might see on the field here at camp. Each concept is progressed or digressed based on the level of the group.

Offensive Positional Work

At the beginning of camp we will tune up a player’s fundamentals. This looks like critiques in shooting technique, dodging, and spacing. As we ramp up, campers can expect to utilize these fundamentals in more advanced concepts like screens, two-man games, and attacking the goal from different positions on the field.

Defensive Positional Work

Like offensive concepts, we start at the fundamentals for defense too. Let’s take a look at your footwork, competitive ground balls, and approach: we look for ways to clean up the basics before layering on the positional IQ. As we progress, we work through concepts like breakdown, contact, the timing of slides, and different defensive strategies (ex: the difference between zone and man).

Scrimmages

Campers love a full-field scrimmage. Coaches get out their ref shirts and take a step back for the athletes to just play. We see a lot of players really step into their confidence on the field during our camp scrimmages.

3v3 Tournament

It wouldn’t be the last day of camp without our 3v3 tournament. Coaches draft their teams on the last night, pulling in players to stack their teams. Coaches PLAY and teams get 3 pool games before proceeding to single-elimination bracket play. We end on a championship and scores are tracked in Tourney Machine… yeah, our 3v3 tournaments are no joke.

Lacrosse Camp FAQ: Everything You Need to Know

How Is This Lacrosse Camp Different From The Rest?

We combine intensive lacrosse instruction on the field with the traditional sleepaway camp experience. In between sessions on the field, campers get the opportunity to participate in excursions like hiking through waterfalls, camp games, boating, and competitions. Campers love the dorm life, which is backed by American Camp Association-accredited safety standards

Is This Camp a Good Fit For My Lacrosse Player’s Skillset?

After our evaluation session, we group players into the best group for their skill set. We get lacrosse players who have been playing at the national club level for years, as well as beginners who might have picked up the sport that spring. Our thoughtful skill grouping allows us to progress each group differently.

What’s The Coaching Like?

Resident Coaches have collegiate lacrosse experience at the DI, DII, DII, NAIA, or Club level. We’ve had coaches who were National Champions, and we’ve had coaches who coach Team USA development teams. Our coaches choose to coach with Signature for our organization (yes, we practice plan and take it seriously), communication (they know when/where to be), emphasis on traditional camp games and activities, and mission.

What’s The Player-to-Coach Ratio?

We always have an 8:1 player-to-coach ratio. This doesn’t include our support staff, such as Assistant Directors, Locational Directors, or our Executive Director. This 8:1 ratio is specifically geared towards your child’s on-field experience.

My Camper Is Coming With Teammates, Do You Offer Discounts?
